How many Indian company websites carry festive messaging before Diwali?
2.5% of Indian listed company home pages carried festive messaging three weeks before Diwali 2026; banking and financial services led every sector at 8.7%.
Who is counted
Websites of Indian listed companies in the Qravitas evidence base, one per company, whose home page could be read on 20 October 2026 (a page needs 150 words of readable text). Each company counts once, from one reading of its home page on 20 October 2026.
How it was measured
Each home page’s raw HTML was read on 20 October 2026, 19 days before Diwali on 8 November. A page counts as festive when its text, image descriptions or image file names name a festival of the season (Diwali, Deepavali, Dhanteras, Navratri, Dussehra, Durga Puja, Bhai Dooj, the festival of lights) or use season and campaign wording (festive season, festive offers, festive sale, this festive season and similar). The bare word “festive” does not count, nor does a mention beside an earlier year (old news, last year’s gallery) or one festival in a list of several. Every match was kept with its surrounding words and checked by hand: 35 of 36 were festive messaging placed this season.
Why it matters
A home page is the one channel every company controls outright, and the cheapest to change, so festive messaging there is the visible edge of a festive campaign. Most Indian listed companies sell to other businesses and leave their home page as it is. Of those that do mark the season, banks and lenders selling festive credit outnumber consumer brands.

What this does not show
- This measures what companies put on their own home page, not what they spend on media.
- A festive banner that is only an image, with no descriptive file name or alt text, is missed.
- Pages built entirely in the browser have little readable HTML and are left out, which removes some large consumer sites.
- No company is named here. Figures are recomputed as companies are re-read, so they move a little from month to month; the date above is the date this figure was true.
