How do company websites score on a mobile performance test?
43% of company home pages score below 50 out of 100 on a standard mobile performance test (the "poor" band); the median score is 54 and the median page downloads 3.9 MB.
Who is counted
Company home pages that Qravitas loaded and read successfully. Each company counts once, from its most recent reading in the readings from the last 180 days.
How it was measured
A standard lab test of the home page on a simulated mid-range phone over a throttled mobile connection, scored 0 to 100 (below 50 is "poor", 90 and above is "good").
Why it matters
A lab score is a controlled, repeatable read of how heavy and slow a page is to build, comparable across companies. It is not what real visitors experience, which is why we publish real-visitor figures separately.
By market
| Market | Share | Companies |
|---|---|---|
| Other markets | 50% | 1,042 |
| United States | 43% | 1,263 |
| India | 36% | 1,358 |
By sector (SEC industry classification)
| Sector (SEC industry classification) | Share | Companies |
|---|---|---|
| Services-Prepackaged Software | 65% | 54 |
| retail | 61% | 44 |
| automotive industry | 60% | 60 |
| video game industry | 39% | 49 |
| Pharmaceutical Preparations | 24% | 90 |
Groups with fewer than 40 companies are left out rather than shown on a thin sample.
What this does not show
- A single lab run per reading; scores move a few points between runs.
- Lab conditions are deliberately harsh, so scores sit lower than most visitors’ experience.
- No company is named here. Figures are recomputed as companies are re-read, so they move a little from month to month; the date above is the date this figure was true.
